Time:                                      Fall term 2011 starting on the 12th of September 2011 and ending on the 12th of November 2011.

For whom:                               Any student of any UniPID-university in Finland. Not optimal for 1st year students (another similar course will be organized in spring 2011). There is the possibility of having 5 students from University of Kwazulu Natal in South Africa, 5 students from Sant Agostinho University of Mwanza- Tanzania and 5 Students from the University of Eduardo Mondlane- Mozambique
 
Acceptance:                            The maximum number of students will be 30 from UniPID + 15 from South making a total of 45 students online. Criterion of selection will be made public at “Sustainability in Development” courses info web-site from late May to 2nd September 2010.
 
Extent:                                    5 ECTS
 
Description:                            The course brings contributions from professionals coming from South (South Africa, Mozambique and Tanzania) in cooperation with Finnish scholars and together tackling on Sub-Saharan social problems and perspectives of social development. The approach of the course is on emancipator social development practices
 
Method:                                  Video lectures minimum 30 hours. Learning materials and texts related to video lectures will be available on the Moodle -course management system or on web-site both informed later. There will be 9 study groups composed by 5 students each, for group discussion, each group will have 1 or 2 students from south and 3 or 4 students from Finland.
 
Learning:                                Critical pedagogy, active learning, problem based learning and group focused learning practice.
